Why i'm running
"We are at a pivotal moment in Austin’s history: we are 90 years from the 1928 plan, are currently debating a change to our land development code, and while we routinely ranked as a top place to live, a third of our minority children are growing up in poverty. We must do better.
After much prayer and talking with my family and friends, I announce my candidacy for Austin City Council District 1. I want to be a champion for our children, a fighter for the forgotten, a warrior for the working class, and a dedicated servant for the district. My faith has fueled my desire for public service and is what drove me to become the first member of my family to graduate from college and later law school.
My campaign slogan is “all hands on deck” as I want to build the coalition of the future with people of all ages, races, and economic statuses. My campaign will focus on affordability, access economic advancement, transportation infrastructure, health care, and criminal justice reforms. I believe Central Texas is a special place; and when we come together we can do great things."
